H	Helmuth Mayrhofer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Auf einer Hügelkuppe von Gossam im Felbringtal befinden sich gut versteckt und umgeben vom Laubwald die Reste der ehemaligen Burg Gossam mit der erstaunlich gut erhaltenen ehemaligen Burgkapelle, welche noch original erhalten ist. Die Burg wird bereits im 11. und 12. Jhdt. urkundlich erwähnt. Nach 1200 wird diese jedoch nicht mehr bewohnt und dem Verfall überlassen. Die dem Hl. Pankraz gewidmete Burgkapelle jedoch blieb bestehen und wurde im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert ein beliebter Wallfahrtsort. Die Burg diente in den danach folgenden Jahrhunderten als „Steinbruch“. In den Jahren 1988 bis 1994 wurden an der Anlage umfangreiche archäologische und bauhistorische Erkundigung durchgeführt und die erforderlichen Schritte eingeleitet um einen weiteren Verfall der freigelegten Mauern hintanzuhalten um diese gefahrlos besichtigen zu können. Eine Besichtigung der Kirchenruine ist absolut sehens- und empfehlenswert. Die Kirchenruine der Burgkapelle Gossam jedoch liegt leicht versteckt im Felbringtal in der Gemeinde Emmersdorf an der Donau. Die Burg wurde bereits im 11.Jahrhundert urkundlich erwähnt. Durch eine Schenkung kam die Burg mit ihrer Kapelle in den Besitz der Kirche in Emmersdorf. Diese baute das kleine Gotteshaus im 14./15.Jahrhundert aus und fügte einen Kirchturm hinzu, um dem anwachsenden Pilgerstrom gerecht zu werden. Die Burg jedoch wurde nicht ausreichend instand gehalten, sodass heute nur mehr wenig von ihr ersichtlich ist. Bei Grabungen wurden die Gebeine von etwa 30 sogenannten Traufkindern entlang der Kirchenmauer gefunden. Diese unehelichen oder ungetauften Kinder, die kurz vor oder nach der Geburt verstorben waren, durften nicht auf einem Friedhof begraben werden. Man bestattete sie deshalb entlang der Kirchenmauer, damit das vom Dach herab laufende Regenwasser sie gleichsam taufte und ihnen so ein Einlass in den Himmel bescherte.
