You can access the island by public transport (U6, U1, U2, trains and trams) or by car. During summer there are events like the famous „Donauinselfest“, „Afrikatage“ or the Beach Volley Ball majors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ danube island is the one of the finest areas to relax, do sports, like running, cycling, play volleyball, soccer, kite or other.
the places around the bridges and even more those with train connections are often very crowded but the further you move away from those the lesser people you will find.
so it's absolutely possible to grab a small place for your own if you move to the ends of the island, with bicycle for instance a ride of 15-20 min.
a lot of people bring their hammocks there an chill during summer in the sun
