Im Jahre 1683 (2.grosse Türkenbelagerung Wiens) begann Fürstbischof Kaspar von Stadion mit dem Bau der grossen Kirche.Vorher stand dort eine kleine Kapelle nach dem Vorbild des"Hauses von Loreto "die für die vielen Pilger bald zu klein wurde. Am 21.Juli 2014 wurde die Kirche durch Papst Franziskus zur Basilika erhoben.
A place of power! In 1683 (the second major siege of Vienna), Prince-Bishop Kaspar von Stadion started to build the big church. Before that stood a small chapel modeled after the "House of Loreto" which soon became too small for the many pilgrims. On July 21, 2014, the church was elevated to the basilica by Pope Francis.

Very nice church outside and inside. Also absolutely watch the cackling festival in August everything from the chicken.
