Früher war ich mit den Kindern nach dem Kindergarten oft in der Filiale Augartenstraße, nur um Laugenstangerl zu holen. Einmal waren wir auch beim Kinderbacken in der Zentrale im 1. Bezirk beim Judenplatz: hier konnten wir sehen, wie in der Backstube Souterrain noch traditionell das Jour-Gebäck mit der Hand geformt wird. Wir empfehlen, beim Bäcker Grimm zu kaufen. Nicht nur, weil es schmeckt. Sondern auch, weil Unternehmen wie dieses unterstützt gehören. Der Grimm bäckt genauso gut wie die neuen "Brotmanufakturen" (Josephsbrot, Gragger oder Öfferl) tritt aber mit ganz normalen Preisen an. Weil es eben schon geht: Qualität, Geschmack und Leistbarkeit. The Grimm bakery has the best pretzels and pretzel sticks in all of Vienna: light, fragrant, coated with a shiny chestnut brown pretzel glaze. I used to go to the Augartenstrasse branch with the children after kindergarten just to get pretzel sticks. Once we went to the headquarters in the 1st district at Judenplatz to bake children: here we could see how the jour biscuits are traditionally shaped by hand in the basement bakery. We recommend buying from the bakery Grimm. Not just because it tastes good. But also because companies like this need to be supported. The Grimm bakes just as well as the new "bread manufacturers" (Josephsbrot, Gragger or Opener), but with normal prices. Because it works: quality, taste and affordability.

If you are into the traditional baking, with a nice old oven taste and an out of fashion looking store, this is the place to go. Bäckerei Grimm is not only affordable, but also tasty. And on top of it, their Wiener Melange cafe tastes and early fresh. Worth s try if you are around Stephanplatz.
