Im Babette's Gewürzgeschäft in Wiener Innenstadt wird täglich von 12:00 bis 14:30 Mittagsessen serviert, und zwar wochentlich wechselnde Speisen, eine Hauptspeise wahlweise vegetarisch, mit Fleisch oder Fisch. Mein Erdnuss-Satay-Curry war ausgesprochen lecker, herrlich gewürzt und mit frischem Koriander garniert, selbst bei den besten Thailändern schmekt es nicht besser. Zudem kommt gute Portionsgröße, der Reis bzw. Curry wurden im Glassgeschirr serviert. Aber unbedingt eräwhnt werden muss die angenehme (fast urige) Ambiente, derartige Wohnzimmer Atmosphäre findet man nur selten. Hier möchte man nicht gestresst sein oder eilig essen (siehe Bilder!). Reservieren lohnt sich!
In Babette's spice shop in Vienna city center, lunch is served daily from 12:00 to 14:30, with dishes that change every week, a main course either vegetarian, with meat or fish. My peanut satay curry was extremely tasty, wonderfully seasoned and garnished with fresh coriander, even the best Thais don't taste better. There is also a good portion size, the rice and curry were served in glass dishes. But it is essential to mention the pleasant (almost rustic) ambience, you rarely find such a living room atmosphere. Here you don't want to be stressed or eat in a hurry (see pictures!). It's worth making a reservation!

Ich war heuer beim Kochkurs mit Parvaneh Hanifi. Sie ist sehr freundlich und es war eine gute Stimmung an dem Abend an dem wir Orientalische Gerichte gekocht haben. Es wurden mit 12 Personen 6 Gerichte gekocht. D.h. je zwei Teilnehmer haben ein Gericht zubereitet. Diese Anzahl an Teilnehmern waren aus meiner Sicht viel zu viele für diese kleine Küche. Parvaneh konnte daher auch immer nur kurz bei den jeweiligen Teams sein um zu helfen. Laut Angebot war es für jedes Level an Kochkünsten geeignet allerdings fehlte dafür die Anleitung speziell für unerfahrene. Die ausgedruckten Rezepte waren leider unvollständig und wurden auch immer wieder korrigiert (z.B. sollten wir von machen Zutaten deutlich mehr/weniger einbringen) Kochzeiten sind ebenfalls auf dem Rezept nicht vermerkt. So hatte es für mich leider einen Beigeschmack trotz toll harmonierender Gruppe. Ich würde empfehlen kleinere Gruppen anzubieten um es besser genießen und lernen zu können.
I went to the cooking class with Parvaneh Hanifi this year. She is very friendly and there was a good atmosphere on the evening when we cooked oriental dishes. 6 dishes were cooked with 12 people. This means that every two participants have prepared a dish. From my point of view, this number of participants was far too many for this small kitchen. Parvaneh was therefore only able to be with the respective teams for a short time to help. According to the offer, it was suitable for every level of cooking skills, but there were no instructions especially for the inexperienced. Unfortunately, the printed recipes were incomplete and were corrected again and again (e.g. we should bring in significantly more/less of some ingredients). Cooking times are also not noted on the recipe. So it unfortunately had an aftertaste for me, despite the great harmonizing group. I would recommend offering smaller groups to better enjoy and learn.

I have just visited the shop for the first time. The founder shared her passion and commitment to quality of the herbs and spices. She also told me about how they have supported the farmers in several countries, like fair trade, and that much of it is organic, though not accredited as is grown by many small farmers who can't afford certification. She even donated a speaking fee of 2,000 Swiss francs to the growers, and they are still using (circulating) the funds, having made ponds and nurseries.... And they have a Massive number of cook books. Please check them out, or buy from their web shop.

Did a cooking class there (south-east Asian curry‘s), was very informative. Pretty awesome place, lots of cooking books and a long list of classes but you have to be fast when booking since they only allow a small number of attendees and the spots, at least what I experienced, are gone rather quickly....
