Der Name bedeutet, dass das Ziffernblatt parallel zur Äquatorebene liegt.
Der Schattenwerfer ist parallel zur Erdachse angebracht.
Diese Ausführung einer Sonnenuhr ist eher selten. Die anderen Sonnenuhren, die ich kenne, haben ein "flaches Ziffernblatt".
