ALPBACH LODGE

Wunderschönes Haus mit herrlicher Sonnenterrasse, fantastischem Blick und sehr stilvoller, hochwertiger Einrichtung. Es wurde an fast alles gedacht (kleine Ausnahmen nur bei der Küchenausstattung) und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Die Sauna im EG kann ab dem Nachmittag genutzt werden und ist ebenfalls sehr schön. Parkplätze finden sich direkt vor dem Haus.

Simply wonderful accommodation, very welcoming. The attention to detail is amazing and clearly no expense has been spared. We didn't want to leave. We will 100% be back again ??

First and foremost, I truly RESPECT contractual obligations and know that BEGGING for a waiver 6 days prior to check-in date meant that the customer is purely at the MERCY of the hotel or lodge in this case. Despite providing all information explaining CLEARLY that : 1) When we first booked, we were told the nearby ski slopes will be open during our stay 2) Only told about a week prior to check-in that the nearby ski slopes are not open and that the only open ski slope is at Zell Am Ziller, an hour drive from this lodge 3) How absurb and expensive it will be to travel an hour to our daily morning ski lessons Along with the crystal-clear supporting proof and sincere lengthy appeal for a kind waiver for our much unwilling cancellation, all we got in reply was a MERCILESS NO. A second DESPERATE effort to appeal for a compromise to just slap us with a 1 night penalty charge instead of 3 nights to lighten our financial burden for this pure mishap, was also turned down mercilessly without consideration. So my sincere advice, unless your travel plans are absolutely mistake/mishap proof, THINK TWICE....

Worst customer service experience, ever! First of all, I humbly admitted that it was a mistake on my part to cancel this booking about 6 days prior to arrival. But I explained that I did my homework back home when I booked their lodging regarding the opening of slopes for ski but when I arrived in Austria with 3 Large and 1 XL luggage from Prague to Budapest and Austria being our last stop, I emailed a local ski company that popped up on my Google search to book a ski instructor for my husband and daughters as we are foreigners and totally unfamiliar with the streets/roads here and have zero experience driving in the snow. I was told that the nearest slopes that are open are located in Zell am Ziller and cos it’s pretty close to our ski trip, it’s best to quickly lock in a ski instructor. So I trusted the local ski company, quickly booked and paid in full a ski instructor for 2-day ski lessons and a non-refundable accommodation in Zell am Ziller as I was told that it’s an hour drive from Alpbach to the slopes at Zell am Ziller and our lesson starts at 10am and we definitely did not have a car. In a rush with all these bookings under limited wifi access and traveling on tours/trains, I forgot to check on the cancellation policy for Alpbach. When I tried to cancel and saw the penalty, I quickly emailed them to explain my situation and seek a waiver of cancellation fees. Instead of showing goodwill and sympathy despite my email correspondences showing them that I didn’t lie about the ski company’s advice and I humbly beseeched them to really help me out, they were adamant and arrogant and refused to waive the cancellation fees and charged me a total of 3 nights even though I asked if they could just charge me a night. What an awful experience and left a bitter taste!

Great appartment, beautiful surroundings and friendly host. Only downside is that you really hear your neighbours, which in our case was an Arabic family that played what I suppose was their country music at full volume and open windows. However, still 5 star recommendation.
