Patří k nejvýznamnějším představitelům biedermeieru. Je dodnes aktuální svou kritikou vyhrocených vztahů mezi národy a svým vztahem k šumavské přírodě. Používal také pseudonym Ostade. Díky jeho příkladným postojům ve vztazích mezi českým a německým obyvatelstvem zemí Koruny české, po něm bylo pojmenováno sdružení Adalberta Stiftera, které se zabývá podporou česko-německého porozumění. Adalbert Stifler Memorial (Vojtěch Stifler from Horní Planá). He was a Czech-Austrian writer, painter and teacher. He is one of the most important representatives of Biedermeier. It is still up to date with its criticism of the escalated relations between nations and its relation to the Šumava nature. He also used the pseudonym Ostade. Thanks to his exemplary attitudes in relations between the Czech and German inhabitants of the Czech Crown countries, he was named after the Adalbert Stifter Association, which deals with the promotion of Czech-German understanding.

Da die einlaufenden Spenden zu gering waren für eine Ganz-Figur, erklärte sich das Unterrichtsministerium zur Übernahme der restlichen Kosten bereit. Statt der belebten Donaulände wurde die stillere Promenade gewählt. Der Denkmalausschuss wählte den 2. Preis von Hans Rathausky. Der Guß der Bronzefigur erfolgte 1902, die Enthüllung fand am 24.
