It took me a very long time to pick a German class in Vienna. I at first just wanted to pick the cheapest thing and be done with it, but all the wonderful things I heard about Johanna's school mixed with an available super intensive Christmas course and a last minute sign up discount, made me run out of excuses. I'm about to finish my second class, and I'll be beginning my third next month. I have ZERO regrets in starting my German journey here. Johanna is amazingly patient and impressively enthusiastic making the two hour classes fly by. As a constant watch-checker, I almost never look at the time in class, and before I know it, the class is over. Her teaching tools include, among other things, straight forward logic, quirky memory tricks, games (with prizes!), and speedy repetitions that you do so many times (but not in a head against the table kind of way) you don't even realize you've memorized them. She doesn't necessarily introduce concepts and materials in your traditional "German class" order, but instead looks at what is actually going to be the most important to begin speaking and creating simple sentences as soon as possible. This is not just a "follow the book" course. She mixes materials from a book with other worksheets and her own materials which really shows she's built her curriculum from the ground up to make it the most effective it can be. She really cares and really wants you to learn - she is your German cheerleader, which makes learning the language that much better. Logistically interacting in class is also a breeze. She speaks English very well, along with Spanish, Italian, and French (that I know of), so she can often translate a vocabulary if the accompanying image or German explanation isn't quite clear enough. Like any language class, she will speak largely German, but when we run into a complicated piece of grammar, for example, she can tend to switch into English (since that's what most of those in the class also jointly speak). The physical location of her school is easily accessible (walking distance from Westbahnhof or Mariahilferstrasse), and is such a warm and welcoming environment. It's set up in a "coffee house" inspiration with groups of people around tables. She always has flowers and snacks on the tables, and her walls are spotted with colorful paintings, signs, and pictures that just create a comfortable space you can feel relaxed in. She really tries to make the school feel home-y, like you've come over to a friends house to learn some German, and I think she really succeeds there. Johanna also uses a fair price system - if you know ahead of time that you're going to miss a couple classes, you let her know, and she adjusts the cost of the class for you. Just another element that speaks to her kindness and no nonsense-ness. (Although this is not done retroactively - it's all about knowing before the class starts ;) ) Johanna has two other teachers at her school, although I have not had them in a class so I cannot speak to their teaching, but Johanna has said that they match her school philosophy, so I'm sure they're just as wonderful :) I've heard many people say that they've gone to other schools first and then redid levels with Johanna and it was an amazing improvement, so I feel very lucky I came to her first. At this point, I'm not comparing cost too much anymore, because I can't imagine learning German any other way.

I have been bouncing around and tried at least four German teachers and I had almost lost hope but finally I found PISA! German is no more scaring and learning it has become a real pleasure! The Pisa method is really catching and effective!!!!!! Johanna has a deep knowledge of the language and she makes everything EASY to learn (also articles and adjectives!!!!). And this requires a huge work behind the scenes!!!! Well done!

Really great school. Cozy atmosphere. Johanna is really caring and passionate for her students. She and the teachers comes up with fun activities to help you integrate the language well. The teachers know secret rules, tips and tricks to help you understand the language better, and they have cool classes like ''Grammar Shots.'' This is the only school you need to go to. Highly recommend!

This is a very different type of German course. It is not stuffy or rigid . It is rather fun and intuitive. Johanna is a very energetic, funny and gifted teacher with a wonderful personality and a unique way of imparting hitherto almost unintelligible German grammar with active conversation and role playing. This approach brings out even the most shy and unconfident student to finally speak, often grammatically incorrect sentences, which are very gently corrected in a way that encourages further speech and fluency . I have thoroughly enjoyed the A2-2 course and hopefully I will be able to go further and throw off the shackles of inhibition and finally learn to speak what can generously be classed as “ passable German”. Thank you Pizzera Sprachakademie ,especially Johanna, for a very rewarding experience.

Johanna is a truly unique and exceptional German teacher. The word "special" certainly applies here. Her enthusiasm for not only the German language, but her genuine desire to instill that love in her students, is palpable. The focus on speaking and Austrian life and culture are particular stand-outs here, a quality you don't often find at other schools. Pizzera provides instruction that is relevant and useful to daily life, providing information that can be put to immediate use. I also appreciate the warm atmosphere, and have met many other like-minded students who have enhanced my overall experience of living in Vienna. I started my German studies at Pizzera, then left for awhile to study elsewhere, and forever regretted my decision to leave. I'm so glad I finally found my way back!

Johanna and Linda are by far the best teachers of German that I know, and I have been learning German for a long time...their method is completely new and unique, and you can really learn grammar and have fun with it - if you are a beginner and are fortunate to have them as your first teachers, I envy you! And if you have been struggling with german for some time, this is the school that you need :)

I have taken all of my German classes with PiSA and they have all been great :), but I have to say that the online course that I just recently finished for B1.2 was just excellently done! I have been working from home for the entire course of the pandemic with tons of calls every day, so I know how doing all meetings online can go, but this was super interactive, well organized and actually fun! I learned a lot of new information to help with my speaking skills and also managed to do A LOT of talking in the group and in break out rooms with the other lovely students. I hope that there are more online courses. It was really convenient and made learning German enjoyable :) Highly recommend!

Wünderbar!!! I tried many German schools. They are all the same: rote-learn phrases, only speak in German so they can’t explain the complex grammar, focus on the mistakes you are making and the teachers are unmotivated. Pisa sprachschule is TOTALLY DIFFERENT!! This is a school for creative and positive learning. It’s so much fun! The teachers should really be stand up comedians or actors, they are wonderful, funny, kind, and full of love for teaching German. students thrive here. You have to be crazy to learn German anywhere else.
