G	Gerhard Lustik on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ein schöner Platz in einer sehr schönen historischen Stadt. Leider ist der Platz oft leer und die Geschäfte, die geblieben sind, haben gerade nicht viel zu tun. Jahrzehntelang lag Hainburg am Rande der westlichen Welt. Viele Geschäfte aus dem Zentrum haben den Ausbau von Supermärkten am Stadtrand nicht überstanden und auch die Öffnung der Grenze Richtung Osten haben der Innenstadt nicht mehr Leben gebracht. Viele Schaufenster sind leer, die Hausfassaden haben die besten Zeiten hinter sich. Trotzdem hat diese Stadt vieles was andere Städte nicht bieten können und zwar spannende Geschichte, eine schöne Donaupromenade, den Braunsberg mit Blick bis nach Wien oder auch Schlossberg mit der Burgruine. A nice place in a very nice historical city. Unfortunately, the square is often empty and the shops that have stayed are not very busy right now. For decades, Hainburg was on the edge of the western world. Many shops in the city center did not survive the expansion of supermarkets on the outskirts and the opening of the border to the east did not bring the city center to life either. Many shop windows are empty, the house facades are past their prime. Nevertheless, this city has a lot that other cities cannot offer, namely an exciting history, a beautiful Danube promenade, the Braunsberg with a view to Vienna or Schlossberg with the castle ruins.

Hier unser kleiner Reisebericht: Über 21 Kilometer fuhren wir immer geradeaus auf dem Dammweg zur Brücke nach Hainburg. Diese 2,2 Kilometer lange Brücke bot einen phantastischen Blick über die Donau und auf Hainburg (Fotos). Der historische Altstadtbereich sowie die guterhaltene Stadtmauer wurden von uns in Augenschein genommen. Die Fahrräder hatten wir in der „Blutgasse“ abgestellt und erfuhren dann aus einer Infobroschüre die Bedeutung des Straßennamens. „Bei der Erstürmung der Stadt und Festung Hainburg durch die Türken im Jahre 1683 wurden 8 432 Bewohner durch die türkischen Krummsäbel in der Gasse niedergemetzelt.“ Wir fertigten Bilder vom Fischertor, der Blutgasse, dem Haydnbrunnen, der Pfarrkirche, der Mariensäule und dem Wiener Tor und von der Festungsruine beim Verlassen der Stadt. Weiter ging die Fahrt über Wälder und Felder nach Wolfsthal. On our 2013 cycle tour along the Danube to the Black Sea, we also cycled through the historic city of Hainburg. Here is our little travel report: For 21 kilometers we drove straight on the dam path to the bridge to Hainburg. This 2.2 kilometer long bridge offered a fantastic view over the Danube and Hainburg (photos). The historic old town area and the well-preserved city wall were examined by us. We had parked the bicycles in “Blutgasse” and then learned the meaning of the street name from an information brochure. "When the Turks stormed the city and fortress Hainburg in 1683, 8 432 residents were slaughtered in the alley by the Turkish scimitars." We took pictures of the Fischertor, Blutgasse, the Haydnbrunnen, the parish church, the Mariensäule and the Wiener Tor and of the fortress ruins when leaving the city. The journey continued through forests and fields to Wolfsthal.
