★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A truly traditional Viennese cafe house. Not like any of the well-known cafes of the 1. Bezirk (inner ring). Here the Grosser Brauner is Turkish mocca-based, not like the fashionable rspresso-based ones (keep in mind that espresso machines are an invention of the 1930s. In this context, check out their marvellous steam coffee machine). Similarly, the menu is authentic old-style (and I dare say real people) that is not catering to the international jet set.
All you Hundertwasser-visiting tourists: if you want to experience the real Viennese coffee house, this one is just one block away- and you save yourself a lot of Euros as well.

Nice hot chocolate and Mohr im Hemd (= chocolate Lava Cake).
Not the best toilets and the most sympathetic waitress.
Only cash payment.
